Partnership with the City University of New York
Our multifaceted approach to partnering with the City University of New York (CUNY), the largest urban higher-education institution in the US, is focused on improving educational and career outcomes for its students and creating opportunities for businesses to work with CUNY students and alumni. To date, 150 fellows from seven cohorts have completed the program and internships in the industry.
In 2018, we launched a nine-month fellowship for sophomores and juniors interested in pursuing careers in the investment industry. Through monthly workshops, fellows increase their knowledge of the industry, build professional skills, and connect with Centerbridge mentors. To date, 130 fellows from six cohorts have completed the program and internships in the industry.
To continue to invest in CUNY and provide opportunity for its students, Centerbridge’s undergraduate summer internship program in New York City primarily hires CUNY students. Each summer, CUNY sophomores and juniors are placed as interns across various departments including Investor Relations, Operations and Investment Teams.
CUNY Futures in Finance (FIF) launched in 2021 in collaboration with Bloomberg L.P. and Goldman Sachs to create a bridge between rising CUNY talent and the finance industry. In 2024, FIF will join CUNY Inclusive Economy (CIE), which aims to connect students with careers after graduation. CIE:FIF will be the program’s first finance track, expanding the program’s reach to more industry partners and CUNY students. Read the press release here.
CUNY Career Success was the 2020 Centerbridge Foundation Partnership Grant recipient. The grant focused on improving educational and career outcomes for thousands of students and alumni across the CUNY system. Centerbridge funding and Bain & Co.’s strategic guidance supported the creation of scalable employer-driven pilots that led to the development of the Office of Careers and Industry Partnerships at CUNY.
